A New View for Our Veterans

SEPTEMBER 6, 2016

Quaker Windows & Doors was chosen as the manufacturer of the 65th Infantry Regiment “Borinqueneers” Veterans Housing in Chicago, Illinois. This development is providing 48 units of permanent and supportive housing targeted toward low-income veterans and their families. Everyone here at Quaker is truly honored to be the window of choice for this project.
Quaker’s E600 Series Awning and Picture Windows with a custom Charcoal finish were supplied through Commercial Window Installers, an authorized Quaker dealer in Bloomingdale, IL.

The project architect was Pappageorge Haymes Partners of Chicago. We also thank them for the allowing us to include the accompanying photo.

As for the “Borinqueneers”, well, they’re a great story in and of themselves. The “Borinqueneers” is the nickname for the largely Puerto Rican 65th Infantry Regiment of the U.S. Army. The regiment fought in WWI, WWII and the Korean War and were recently honored with a Congressional Gold Medal. We recommend going to their website to learn more about this brave group of individuals. www.borinqueneers.org.
